The Seuil de Naurouze is the most iconic site on the Canal du Midi. This is where all the waters of the Montagne Noire come together and give birth to the canal. A dividing point, the waters split there on the edge of an octagonal basin that has retained its 17th century layout. The visit is an opportunity to understand the entire water supply system as well as the art works.

Saint Papoul Abbey is one of the Sites Pôles du Pays Cathare
The guide will tell you the story of this ancient cathedral and its 14th century Languedoc-style cloister. In the old monks’ refectory, get to know more about the Master of Cabestany (12th century) and don’t miss the tapered roof outside.

In the morning: walk to the Seuil de Naurouze, the point where the waters divide. This is where the Rigole de la Plaine arrives to give birth to the Canal du Midi.
