It's the great gastronomic festival, the penultimate weekend in August!
Free concerts on the 3 main squares of the city: République, Verdun and Cordeliers.
An eclectic programme for all: from musette to electro pop, French songs and festive rock… and it’s free!
Shows open to all punctuate the evenings. Apero poems, apero stories, Tango, a bandas festival…
Activities or highlights bring together young and old at the heart of the Festival… From the “Ronde du Cassoulet” foot race, to the gourmet market, via the traditional Grand Chapter of the Grande Confrérie du Cassoulet de Castelnaudary on Friday evening… or the UFO (Unidentified Floating Objects) race on the Petit Bassin and the famous flower parade on Sunday afternoon, a not-to-be-missed parade of floats, bands and majorettes covering more than a kilometre in the heart of the town of Chaur…
To taste the cassoulet: all the restaurants of the city but also La Halle aux Grains, in the city centre, receives the meals of the evenings during the week and a big tent welcomes the meals of the weekend on the place de la Liberté… cassoulet non stop! During the festival, more than 40,000 cassoulets, produced by local canners and restaurant owners, are consumed and purchased.
